Two airports
KEF and RKV are separate airports
International flights land at Keflavík Airport (KEF) on the Reykjanes peninsula. Most domestic flights — and some flights to Greenland and the Faroe Islands — use Reykjavík Domestic Airport (RKV) in the city, next to the Nauthólsvík area and a short drive from downtown. The two are 48 km apart, about 45 min by car.
There is no airside connection between them. Connecting from an international to a domestic flight means collecting your bags at Keflavík, going through arrivals, driving to RKV and checking in again. A private transfer takes the guesswork out of that middle part: your driver waits in KEF arrivals with your name and drives you straight to the domestic terminal.
Connections
Planning a KEF → RKV connection
- 1
Leave enough time
Allow for passport control and baggage at KEF, the drive, and your airline's check-in deadline at RKV. Several hours between flights is sensible; separate tickets aren't protected if the first flight is late.
- 2
Add both flight numbers
Put your arrival flight number in the booking and your domestic flight in the notes — your driver checks the landing time.
- 3
Meet in arrivals
Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign; 45 minutes of free waiting after landing are included.
- 4
Straight to the domestic terminal
Drop-off at the RKV terminal door, bags and all.

Rides from the domestic airport
Flying back to Reykjavík from Akureyri, Egilsstaðir or Ísafjörður with an international flight the same day? The RKV → Keflavík Airport ride is the same fixed price. For short rides from RKV to a hotel in the city, send us the details on WhatsApp and we reply with a fixed price per car.
Weather affects domestic flights in Iceland more than international ones, especially in winter. If your domestic flight is delayed or cancelled, message us on WhatsApp straight away and we'll move your pick-up if we can.

Follow your airline's advice and be generous: you need to clear passport control, collect bags, drive to RKV and check in again before the domestic check-in deadline. Several hours is a sensible margin.
