Skarfabakki and the old harbour
Most large cruise ships calling at Reykjavík berth at Skarfabakki in Sundahöfn, a working harbour a few kilometres east of the city centre. Smaller ships sometimes use the old harbour right next to downtown. Your cruise line confirms the berth for your sailing — and the all-aboard time, which is the one that matters.
Skarfabakki is not a place to wander from on foot: the city centre is a short drive away, and Keflavík Airport is 49 km away, about 45 min by car. The ferry to Viðey island also leaves from Skarfabakki.

Many cruises start or end in Reykjavík. On disembarkation day ships usually unload in stages and luggage can reach the terminal after you do, so book your car for a time that matches your disembarkation slot rather than the earliest possible minute. Add your flight number when you book.
Starting your cruise? Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall at Keflavík with a name sign — 45 minutes of free waiting after landing are included — and takes you to the terminal or to a hotel in Reykjavík if you arrive the day before.
