Mývatn 湖位于冰岛东北部的活火山区，周围的景观在小小的空间里集中了惊人的多样性：Dimmuborgir 的熔岩柱和熔岩拱门、Skútustaðir 的假火山口、Námaskarð 山口下 Hverir 冒着蒸汽的泥浆池和喷气孔，以及 Mývatn 自然浴场乳蓝色的湖水。这个湖也以鸟类闻名，尤其是鸭子，它的名字来自平静的夏日里成群飞舞的蠓虫。
