How early should you leave Reykjavík?
The drive from central Reykjavík to Keflavík Airport is 48 km on Reykjanesbraut (Route 41), about 45 min in normal conditions. The road is a main highway and kept open all year, but the airport itself is the part that needs time: check-in, bag drop, security and, for flights outside the Schengen area, passport control.
The simplest way to choose your pick-up time is to count backwards from take-off. Take your airline's recommended arrival time at the airport — usually printed on your booking — then subtract the drive and a safety buffer. That's the time your car should leave your door.

Many flights from Iceland to Europe and North America leave early in the morning, which can mean a pick-up at 4 or 5 am. We drive 24/7 at the same fixed price, so a 04:00 pick-up costs the same as one at noon. A pre-booked car comes to your address, so there's no need to walk to a bus stop in the dark with your bags.
